SUN-day !

So in a life 

That keeps throwing curves at me

Instead of finishing it up late

Success

I tried a new recipe 

A simple one 

Easy to make

And a hit the Kid

Just wish I had also taken a picture of the cooked fish as well

 Underwhelmed

So the Kid ,Noka, and I  went out for a belated birthday meal

The restaurant is a chain one

I had never been so I was up for it

So sadly I will say I don't have any plans to go back

The staff was nice

The food was average the prices were not

I did enjoy my dessert

Plus I got a nice picture of the Kid and her Noka

NYSMA

The Kid participated in NYSMA
I don't really know what it is
Other then I pay for the Kid to do it
She does some playing and sight reading for a judge
He scores her
We all hope for a good score
But other then that kind of clueless
I know bad mom

The Kid plays drums in the school band

This is her second time testing with NYSMA

I wish I had some pictures to share

But 

Pictures,filming or recording

Strictly forbidden

I think she did better then she thinks

We will find out in a few weeks

Dreading
All the cleaning
I need to do today
However
It is the only day
I can actually get to it
Since the rest of the week to come is booked solid
Motivation is lacking
Mainly because it is beautiful outside
I will push through
Maybe even get to enjoy some of the sun

Abs

Or should I say lack of

The Kid started her Physical therapy this week

Found out that she has no ab strength

She has been using  her legs and back to do everything

Thus the reason she has low back pain all the time 

(well that and the scoliosis)

So for the next 6 weeks or so we will see her therapist John

Who will work on getting her to find those muscles

As well as correcting her posture

Fun evenings ahead of us 

It helps that the Therapist knows how to have fun with the Kid

It also helps that he makes me laugh and the time goes by faster

Yesterday 

Was a great day

Plenty of sunshine

The Kid's first away lacrosse game

Another tie

Which I am grateful for 

The other team was tough 

And our girls held their own

Woo hoo!

Searching for words

Flirting

Flirting with disaster that is 

I have been trying to give my Kid  a bit more freedom

She is only 11 soon to be 12

I know for a fact I did a lot more when I was her age

I wonder why I feel like I need to keep the hold so tight

Small steps I am taking

Saturday she was invited to go roller skating

Innocent enough sounding

But 

I won't be there 

And 

I am kinda afraid that the "mean girls" will be stalking 

Do I let her go and hope for the best

Or do I keep her home

Avoiding the drama and save it for another day

Remembering 

This week had been a crazy one in the States

First off 

All the craziness that happened at the Boston Marathon

And 

That continues this morning with many neighborhoods pretty much on a lock down

While the searching continues for the second suspect

Secondly

The small town of West, Texas

How horrible to basically to have your whole town leveled

To need to start your lives from scratch

While healing

Today marks anniversaries for 2 other horrible moments in our history 

Waco Texas standoff

And 

The Oklahoma bombing

Two events that I watched unfold on the television

I remember them clearly because one happened on my 16th birthday and the other my 18th 

So today I'll take a moment

To remember all of those who lost their lives

The Kid 

Has been running around like crazy in the evening

Either at lacrosse practice

Or out and about with the neighborhood kids

Making memories

Because time really does fly by

Being grateful 

That my brother has now returned home from Afghanistan

That with all the craziness in our world 

Especially now in our neck of the woods

That all my friends and family

Are healthy and safe

Love

Seeing all the flowers pushing through the soil

So much nicer

Snow be gone for good thank you

My heart aches for you

Finances

My finances took a big hit

The Kid was recently diagnosed with scoliosis

We met with a specialist

Who laid out the plan

The Kid was measured Thursday

For a brace 

She will wear it for a minimum of 16 hours daily

My cost 

(and this is just the estimate)

 Roughly $400.00

I would gladly spend $4000.00 though

If it meant making my Kid better

This Saturday my Kid has her first Lacrosse game ever
I am super excited for her
This is something she begged to do
I hope she is ready
I know I am ready

Once again made it out for some amazing,delicious sushi

We were very pleased we went
It is always nice to be able to add another place to our list of Sushi places near by
It also helped that we had a gift certificate

 This week two people had their last moments with us here on earth

I did not know either personally

I remember watching him on Saturday afternoons
When I was younger
I find this funny now
Mainly because I don't really take critics opinions for much
Something about the dueling with his co-host that dragged me in though
When Roger Ebert first diagnosed with his cancer
I was amazed that with all that he went through
He kept working
And putting himself out there publicly
He could of just did his job from the shadows never showing his new face
But
He didn't
He told his story
He continued with his reviews
He was an outspoken man
Even after the actual ability of talking was taken away
 Waiting for your review of the hereafter

Recovery
On Monday
My daughter's great-grandfather (or as she calls him Poppop) had surgery
I happy to share that he seems to be doing good
He will probably stay in the hospital through the weekend
But
He is cracking his jokes and entertaining all the staff he comes into contact with
I took the Kid to visit on Thursday
These two are the best of buddies

And definitely can find trouble to get into if left to their own devices

Drama
The drama of middle school
Ugh! 
I do not remember it being so bad
I feel for my Kid and the other kids 
Who have to deal with the nastiness that others seem to dole out
Not a big fan of the adults in charge at the school
I get it hormones and growing up 
Don't call it a learning experience
I don't teach my child hate 
 I don't think telling her to just ignore it and learn from it is right either 
I do remember the school asking me to stay involved as a parent
 I now am asking you as the adult in the school   
To keep yourself involved
Every situation is different 
It is not always kids being kids

I am getting better

I decided yesterday
While in throws of looking for something
That I never found
I decided that I really really need to purge things
In all parts of my life
I have tried doing this before
But
I think this time I am really ready
To stop making reasons to hold onto things

Sushi & Leather

Hope everyone had a nice Easter Weekend

I did

It wasn't to crazy

I even got an extra day off 

So I can't complain too much

I will say

I had a child with a cold

One minute running a fever

The next 

Running around swearing she felt fine

The one thing she could not hide 

Was her sneezing and coughing

Saturday

Was my mom's birthday

Nothing really planned

But 

I did take her out for a Sushi lunch

I think the Kid was more excited

 

Sunday

Had an early morning hug from her Noka

(The name she calls my mom she made it up when she was little)

Who was heading out of town for the day

Then off to her other Grandma's house

For Easter 

I wanted to take a lot pf pictures

But I did not

I did grab a few that I do love a lot

The Kid rocking her Uncle Joe's leather jacket

I think might be my favorite

 

 Wish the weekend had lasted a bit longer

Sniffles and all

But 

I guess now that is Monday

I have something to look forward too
